During the course of the s, John Williams recorded three albums for independent Cube Records. These albums are particularly notable because, apart from featuring John Williams playing electric guitar for the first time, Changes 71 includes the first recording of Cavatinawhich has since become John Williams' signature piece, while Travelling 78 culminated in the forming of Sky shortly after completion. The Height Below Sarabande - John Williams - Changes saw John Williams work with Beatles producer George Martin for the first time, although they'd already known each other for some time.

On the back of the success of Cavatina as a single inCube Records issued several compilations and have since been living off re-releasing these recordings in various forms or licensing individual tracks.

Strangely, perhaps, none of the three albums has been issued as a CD under the original title or with the original running order, and some compilations, in circumstances the sleeve notes don't quite explain, also include tracks from John Williams' first recorded collaboration with jazz singer Cleo Laine. Here is a hopefully complete listing of these compilations, in reverse chronological order i. The main reason I'm including all of these is because some of these compilations were bigger sellers than the original albums, and visitors to this site have been surprised that they weren't included on its previous incarnation.

See below for my suggested method of re-creating the original three albums on CD. My thanks to Bill Darlington for some of the entries which I didn't have or know about, and scans from his collection. Cavatina BO Released ? This is simply Changes with the third track jumping to first Rotted Soul - Skin Crime - Whorebutcher, and using the same artwork for the cover.

Also released with this artwork, and previously issued on LP. But not the last! This set includes the whole of both Changes and Travellingplus three tracks from The Height Below. It is not. Note that it includes all but two tracks from Changes. Like the CD above with the same title different artworkthis is simply Changes with the first and third tracks swapping places.

With the publication in of the double-CD Essential Collectionit is now almost possible to re-create the original three albums Sarabande - John Williams - Changes CD with one readily-available purchase. It is REALLY annoying that the publishers chose not to include these I can see no reason Your Love - Lime - Re-Lime-D Volume III they should have been forced into that position.

The only CD on which both are included is Bridgeswhich is currently officially out of print. It does turn up occasionally on eBayand generally sells for acceptable prices. Don't be confused by LPs, as there are literally millions of copies out there, and there are at least a couple of copies for sale at any given time.

Cold Cuts - Kool G Rap & DJ Polo* - Road To The Riches, Back To Tupelo - Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler - Gold Collection, La Fuente - Charlie Palmieri And His Orchestra - Adelante, Gigante, Id Rather Leave While Im In Love - Various - In Touch - 28 Messages Of Love

  1. Nov 27,  · Or was the choir something that Williams only had for the OST version of the track? If Williams intended the choir to also be present in the film (before that bit was replaced with "The Love Scene"), then I'd imagine the OST version of "Night Journeys" is .

  4. Sep 18,  · This CD is really a compilation of the 3 "experimental" albums John Williams did before his venture with the Prog Rock group Sky. So if you are a classical purist then you might not like this CD. Otherwise, it's a rare combination of songs from "Changes", "The Height Below", and "Travelling" - the 3 albums that eventually led to Sky.5/5(2).
  5. The Guitar Music of John Williams. TellyDisc TELLY3 (double LP) Released This is a serious oddity, as it is the only compilation record ever released which combines tracks from John Williams' recordings for CBS with those for Cube Records, with two tracks each from Changes and Travelling.
  6. Aug 06,  · A new release by John Williams is always a cause for celebration. Vivaldi, etc! is the sixth in a series of albums that the guitarist has produced on his own JCW Recordings label. Remarkably, this is the first time that he has recorded his solo arrangement of Vivaldi’s Concerto Op. 3, No. 9. “I.
